from nowhere album design

When Mo approached me to design their fifth studio album, From Nowhere, using the photography of Matt Horseman - it was an easy yes. Matt’s photos are always striking and Mo’s been a long-time bud whose music I’ve always admired and found deeply relatable.

I started this project while at a cabin in the woods without internet or service but the largest vinyl collection I’ve ever seen. After some time digging through older records, I started navigating toward the incomplete borders that appear on a lot of the sleeves from the 70s. I wanted the design to provide a sturdy backbone for the images to stand on their own, supported by large color blocks, bold fonts, partial borders, and a retro-reminiscent color palette.
